BlazBlue Is Coming To Europe Next Year With New Characters

blazblue_ps3_wipIt’s just been announced that publisher PQube will be bringing Arc System Works developed title BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger to the European regions in 2010.  Why so late to the party?  It’s got new stuff added for extra deliciousness! The European version of the title will be fully localized into English, German, French, Italian and Spanish and promises to include additional content in the standard edition such as:

  • Character strategy guide,
  • Music soundtrack,
  • New gameplay content not available anywhere, like new characters and moves.

Hailed as the ‘game that every self-respecting console fighting fan should play’ BlazBlue scored pretty well upon its release back in June.

This release also marks the beginning of a new partnership between PQube and Zen United. Dave Pain, from PQube, said “The long running 2D fighting genre has seen a welcome boost in 2009 with updated versions of several franchises brought to Next Gen PS3 and 360 consoles” and Tomo Ohno, Head of Zen United, reported “BlazBlue reached number 1 in the Japanese arcades and already sales of the Japanese and US console versions have beaten forecasts”.

My take?  Sure it sounds pretty far away but remember we are nearly half way through August! And with the promise of new characters, one of the major criticisms the title faced was its lack of that very same thing, means it’s a good enough reason to postpone picking this up until an official release hits!

Yeah, this sounds like utter bull. I’ve already listed my reasons for the new features. The first two new features are just the limited edition all over again, and the third is ridiculous and silly, changing far too much of the core game with even just the addition of ONE character.

In other words, a European release sounds nice, but this sounds more like a revision than a simple European version.

Nice Photoshop job, there. So nice that there is no “Calamity Trigger” after “BlazBlue” in the title.

  2. First of all, thanks for the comment. Secondly let me quote the official press release which can be read here:

“The European version of the title will be fully localised into English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. It will include additional content – e.g. character strategy guide, music soundtrack from sold-out US Limited Edition. Plus new gameplay content not available anywhere, like new characters and moves.”

Also, the title BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger can be seen here, here, here and finally here on the official Aksys site. Anything else?

Oh yeah that ‘photoshop’ is the European WIP boxart, FROM PQube themselves.

    Jubei?

    @Shaun McIlroy

Again, great job. It’s probably fake because the words “Calamity Trigger” are missing from the bottom of the “BlazBlue” logo.

  5. @VioletWitch – Okay, whatever you say. As I said its a work in progress FROM the publisher. Take it or leave it.

Apparently they’ve dropped “Calamity Trigger” from the name in Europe.

No idea why. Personally I quite liked it, but there we are, eh?

Hope that clears things up. :D
