OLC Culture: The Web, The Tubes, The Lulz
If you’re anything like the rest of the internet you waste precious hours every month searching for lulz (read: interesting or funny content). Looking through the vast amounts of crap out there might make it seem like there’s no good lulz to be had.
Therefore I’ve been wading waist deep in that sludge and here’s just a few of the things I found which you may have missed or overlooked on your travels. Heck, even if you have seen them, you’ll probably live through watching them another time since they are no less amazing the second third fifteenth time around.
This web series brings you the classic story of how a hero is truly born. That’s right – drunk, confused and horny… basically everything it takes to be an OLC writer. I can’t remember anymore, I think that’s how I got here. Anyway, the story continues and Link… I mean Neil finds himself far from home and surrounded by random and weird characters. There are plenty of great actors to be found in the cast such as Felicia Day, whom you might know from The Guild or Dr. Horribles Sing-Along Blog. Personally I stumbled upon Legend of Neil by accident myself and it’s definetly worth a look.
Some of you might have heard about the Spoony One and probably seen some of his videos already. The thing about him is that he can find flaws in any movie or game and bring them to light, so it’s fair to say that he’s not afraid of getting his opinion out there. Best of all, he does it with a smile and likes to joke around with whatever he’s working on which makes it doubly entertaining. Some of best work over on the Spoony Experiment includes his Final Fantasy VIII review, and well as the Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh playthrough. Always quick with a clever comment, his alter ego “Doctor Insano” is probably one of the most hilarious characters ever to have been created on the Internet.
Did you ever watch Unskippable over at The Escapist? These guys can also be found on their own website Loading Ready Run. I started watching back when they were doing their Desert Bus project, but was truly forced to bookmark the site when I saw the ultimate kind of cooking ever, oh yes, I’m talking about MAN COOKING! Those are probably some of the first videos you should check out over there, but be sure to watch some of their other stuff as well. Phailhaüs and CommodoreHustle are some of the other brilliant things they’ve come up with.
These are just a few of the things you shouldn’t miss when bored on the internet, and we’ll probably have lots more to show you in the future. In fact, if you’ve got something you think we should include, then feel free to write either a comment or an email to myself which you can find to the right on the sidebar.
