Valkyria Chronicles II – Summer 2010 Only On PSP

Today SEGA, of America and Europe, announced that Valkyria Chronicles II, is coming exclusively to the PlayStation Portable in summer 2010. How’s that for a surprise move? Not really that surprising since Famitsu spoiled it in July.
From next year PSP owners will be able to experience the highly acclaimed mix of distinctive visuals and addictive gameplay first seen in Valkyria Chronicles, a game you all might remember was highly rated as one of Phil Carons top eleven (?) games of last year.
The story of Valkyria Chronicles II takes place two years after the conclusion of the original; this time with a group of young Gallian Military Academy cadets finding themselves plunged into a bitter civil war when the newly formed Gallian Revolutionary Army stages a coup. Once more players are promised an epic story, with friendship, love and growing pains all part of the emotional canvas during a time of war and revolution.
“Valkyria Chronicles received widespread critical acclaim when it launched on PS3 last year,” said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe Ltd. “It has quickly become one of our most respected franchises, so we’re delighted to be able to continue the saga on the PSP. We hope that fans of the series will enjoy the freedom of experiencing Valkyria wherever they are and that a new audience will be able to discover the universe on their PSPs.”
The “CANVAS” engine, originally developed internally by SEGA Game Studios Japan for Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3, is being fully redesigned for the graphical capabilities of the smaller brother of the PlayStation family, the PSP. This incredibly distinctive engine we are told will power over twenty new distinct and visually stunning environments within which players will have hundreds of different missions to explore.
SEGA have also re-designed Valkyria Chronicles’ “BLiTZ” battle system in order to offer players the freedom to strategically move around the environment and attack enemies using real-time controls.
As I said before Valkyria Chronicles II will be available for the PSP and PSPgo in summer 2010. Are you interested in picking this up as much as Phil?

I’m dying to know what era this is or if it even is in the same universe. For my lack of interest on SRPGs, I really love Valkyria Chronicles.
