Assassin’s Creed Renaissance To Hit Bookshelves Soon
If games aren’t your thing then it’s a good job that Penguin Books and Ubisoft have announced a partnership that will bring together the worlds of gaming and publishing in what’s described as a unique collaboration between the two.
The new book, Assassin’s Creed Renaissance, is based on the upcoming holiday blockbuster Assassin’s Creed II, and will be published in association with Ubisoft.
“Penguin are hugely excited to be publishing the novelisation to the second Assassin’s Creed game” said Editorial Director Alex Clarke. “This partnership presents at last a way for traditional book-publishing to cross-over with the ever growing and increasingly exciting world of gaming media.”
Alex Clarke then went on to describe Assassin’s Creed II as a wonderfully rich gaming experience and an enthralling historical thriller which, for Penguin, dovetails perfectly with the appetite of historical fiction fans we’re told.
The first installment in the Assassin’s Creed series was a record breaking game franchise that has seduced millions since its release in 2007, including myself. It became the fastest selling new video game ever, in terms of new IP, in the US and the UK with more than 9 million games sold worldwide. This second game promises to improve upon that experience, and captivate gamers and history-lovers alike on a similar scale.
“We’re delighted to be working with Penguin Books” said Rob Cooper, Managing Director of Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed Renaissance will offer the public a new and exciting way to experience the narrative world of Assassin’s Creed II. The book deal with Penguin, along with the Assassin’s Creed Lineage film series, is part of an ambition to bring the Assassin’s Creed franchise to multiple entertainment media. These projects along with the game itself will provide a truly immersive experience.”
Assassin’s Creed II will be released on 20th November in the United Kingdom with the book following closely behind, published on 26th November…just so you know, people don’t want the ending spoiled. As a fan of fantasy novels, ones which have their own deep histories, I do believe that I might just want to have a look at this publication come November 26. For train journeys and such…which are often.
