Mega Man 10 Announced For WiiWare

Completely out of left field comes this bit of news, brought to our attention by Egoraptor on Twitter – a brand new Mega Man game.

Fans applauded Capcom’s decision to go old school with their previous outing, Mega Man 9.  Pixelated graphics, chip-tune music, difficult challenges and horrible, horrible box art, the titled was widely praised for its simplicity, nostalgia factor and true-to-spirit gameplay.  Seems like Capcom enjoys such praise it seems, as they’re going back - once again – to the basics with Mega Man 10.

Plot wise this time you’re fighting to find parts of a vaccine making device that’ll cure the spreading virus Robotenza, an illness which causes infected robots to lose control and overheat.  It sounds like the robot versi0n of H1N1 hs finally arrived…so Mega Man is going to need help, right?  That’s where Proto-Man comes in.  Available as a selectable character from the beginning it’s a far cry from the paid DLC of MM9, and not only that Nintendo Power states that there’s a third playable character inbound as well.  Could they be bringing Zero into the original series?  Hopefully, as Capcom have been able to retcon the series history here and there when it suits them in the past so why not now?

sheepman1Which leads me to this guy pictured….Sheep Man.  Isn’t he a ’sheer’ delight? Hopefully he’s as rough as his coat is woolly…His ability allows him to turn into four clouds which rain electric death from above.  On paper it sounds tons better than what we all imagined the much maligned Splash Womans ability to be….

Oh, there’s also an Easy mode for those who are post 80’s gamers as they’ll likely, most of them anyway, not be able to handle the hardcore difficulty of regular mode.  So far it’s only been announced as coming for WiiWare but I imagine it will be announced soon enough for Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network.  How do you all feel about this installment so far?
