FFXIII PS3/360 Audio & Visual Differences Explained By Square Enix
Over on The Magic-Box comes details, via Square Enix, on the visual/audio differences between the upcoming PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title Final Fantasy XIII. Square Enix have apparently mentioned that the differences between the PS3 and 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII will be down to the compression techniques used on the storage format. The PS3 version will contain uncompressed audio and video, which uses almost one layer of the Blu-ray disc, with the entire game stored on one dual-layer Blu-ray. The Xbox 360 version on the other hand will have compressed audio and video, with the game will spaning across three dual-layer DVD’s which likely means longer load times, and somewhat lesser perceived quality we imagine. Still, it’s not all about visuals and audio….right?
Final Fantasy XIII launches next week for PlayStation 3 in Japan, and in March in all other territories again on PS3, as well as for Xbox 360.
