Just Cause 2 Coming To YouTube Via PlayStation3

Square Enix London Studios, in a busy day for the company it seems, have announced that Just Cause 2 for the PlayStation 3 will ship with an exclusive built-in video capture feature, allowing players to record clips of their greatest in-game moments.  What makes it special is that players are able to upload  their most explosive moments directly to YouTube.

The video capture feature will allow players to automatically record the last thirty seconds of gameplay directly to the PlayStation 3’s hard drive and upload to Google’s popular video file-sharing service.  Whilst that sounds somewhat technical and marvellous it pales in comparison to the more advanced capture option from the in-game menu which allows for a ten minute capture feature which allows players to create more detailed presentations.

No Xbox 360 or PC support of this feature has been announced although Kotaku’s Brian Crecente raises the possibility of Microsoft developing their own internal video capture solution, which if true negates the requirement for Square Enix to develop the service for the platform.  The likely scenario though if this does indeed pan out is some form of Xbox LIVE Gold supported feature with a limited upload space.  Why?  Google owns YouTube, and whilst Sony have a nice working relationship with the search engine giant, Microsoft don’t.
