News: BlazBlue Coming To Consoles

It’s been a long, LONG time coming, but Arc System Works’ HD 2D fighting game, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger was finally announced for a console release in this week’s issue of Famitsu. Due to a series of complications between Guilty Gear developers Arc and Sega Sammy, the publishers of their previous console games, BlazBlue was developed as a spiritual revival of the Guilty Gear franchise for HD-enabled hardware. Announced quite a while ago, and released just this past November in arcades worldwide, BlazBlue features high-quality spritework, detailed animation, insane combos, and a hard rock soundtrack from Guilty Gear maestro Daisuke Ishiwatari. Haven’t heard of it? Give the trailer a look.
While not much else is known about the console port as of yet, we do know that BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is currently slated for a Japanese release on PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 some time this summer. Considering the English translation of the game is already finished thanks to the US version of the arcade game, I would be very surprised if an English version doesn’t follow soon after. One thing’s for sure, though. If you’re a fan of 2D fighters, thanks to Street Fighter IV, King of Fighters XII, and BlazBlue, 2009 is shaping up to be your year.

background art is epic . guilty gear baton has been passed forward. a lot of elements of fighting style seems shared too. noel looks rather dizzy-esque
My only experience with Guilty Gear came in an attempt to play it on a PS1 emulator. It ran at about double speed. How badly do I need to buy the PS2 version?
Hmm yeah this should be a good one.. I wonder if it will have online play? I sure hope so.. I missed the boat with competitve Guilty Gear play so this is my saving grace.. lol
