News: Namco Unveils Three New Tales Games

Not content to be developing one Tales game at a time, Namco has pulled out all the stops in this week’s Jump, announcing not just one, but THREE new games in their long-running Tales franchise.  And on April 1st, no less. 

The first title isn’t really a new announcement at all; it’s the official titling of the Wii Tales game.  Originally referred to as Tales of “Ten” when Namco Bandai announced it, it has now been titled Tales of Graces; this was one of a number of new Tales game titles trademarked by Namco in recent weeks, so it’s not entirely surprising.

Next up is the oddly titled Tales of Versus for the PSP; from the looks of the screenshots, it would appear to be a four-player versus battle game along the lines of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, featuring Tales characters and movesets.  Not too much is known about the title, but so far characters from Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Hearts and Tales of Symphonia 2 have been shown in the game.  Multiplayer appears to be a shoo-in as well.

Last but not least comes the final confirmation of the rumor that just wouldn’t die; Tales of Vesperia is coming to the Playstation 3, with an anime movie accompanying it.  As with all 360-to-PS3 late ports, the PS3 version of Vesperia will include new content, including a new character named Patty Fleur who I am absolutely sure I’m going to hate with every fiber of my being.  Because, y’know, Vesperia really needed more annoying kids.  Check out the scans.

Either way, more Tales isn’t usually a bad thing.  But, keeping with Namco tradition, stay tuned for at least one of these three to never be released in the United States of Europe.  Why, you ask?  Because Namco doesn’t like children.
