Gunstar Heroes Listed on ESRB Website

Rejoice!  Gunstar Heroes is coming to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360!

Well, that is if the ESRB website is to be believed.  While the E10+ title is already available for the Wii, it is currently listed as coming soon for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.  It’s currently unknown whether or not this means it will be released on the systems’ respective distribution services or something else.  It should be noted that the listing is tied to the same version that was released on the Wii’s Virtual Console several years back, so chances are this is a port, but SEGA could surprise us with an HD remake if we’re all very, very lucky.

For those that don’t remember, Gunstar Heroes was an over-the-top action game for the Genesis with tight gameplay and inventive, original bosses.  It spawned a sequel in 2005 for the GBA which was equally as fun, but many felt it the new weapon system wasn’t as charming as the original.  I honestly love the franchise and would often wonder why SEGA didn’t revisit the franchise with 2.5D graphics or something… but now there is a very real possibility for a remake, port or even future installments.  As for now however, here’s hoping to a full HD remix of the original - c’mon, SEGA, you can do it!
