Pixeljunk 4 Has a Trailer, Needs A Name

The Pixeljunk series, developed by Japanese team Q-Games, has long been one of the cornerstones of the indie gaming movement on the Playstation Network.  With Pixeljunk 4, the studio hopes to continue their streak.  Currently without a title, Pixeljunk 4 is a “strategic action shooter” in which players will navigate a small exploration ship through a series of caverns, attempting to reach the end of each stage like an old-style shooter.  However, these caverns aren’t just full of enemies; each level is full of environmental hazards like lava, water, and other fluids, each of which is controlled by a sophisticated flow system.  In other words, if there’s a pocket of water hidden behind a wall and you shoot that wall, the water will rush out and flow down as dictated by physics.  The object of the game is to reach the end of each level while simultaneously controlling the environment as best as possible to rescue as many stranded survivors as you can.  It seems simple in description, but it’s much more impressive in motion.  Check out the trailer.

Pixeljunk 4 is due out this summer, exclusively on the Playstation Network, and supports a host of PS3-specific features, like PSP remote play, trophies, and Youtube uploading.  However, as mentioned previously…the game doesn’t have a name yet!  Q Games is holding a contest in which gamers around the world can submit their ideas for a new title for the game; if you want to participate, click the link at the bottom of this article and submit your idea.

I love how everything flows… looks very slick… but personally I think there might be too much going on on the screen… for some reason I have a very hard time managing too many things when it’s in 2D or 2.5D xD I do fine managing a ton of things in 3D but when it’s 2D or 2.5D I break down. Part of the reason why I’m completely horrible at Strategy games.
