Contest Result: Whose Haiku Was Haiku-est of Them All?

jaggedalliance1Are you the winner of our latest contest? Maybe! Well, click through to find out, and to check out all of the finalist entries. We be emailing the winner within the hour so keep your eye on your inbox!

Here at OLC we like to keep things on the up and up. So to make sure a winner was picked without any bias, we forwarded the contest finalists’ entries to Stephen Totilo of Kotaku (a master poet, himself.) Totilo sent us word of his pick earlier today, and we’re happy to announce that Ronald Diemicke has won a copy of Jagged Alliance! Ronald’s entry was straight to the point:

Damn Mercenaries
They always want more money
To hell with this country

Stephen’s reasoning behind the pick? “… [it] may break the rules of haiku, but does so with style. I feel like I’m reading lines that could be spoken by a real video game character, yet they’re in haiku. It suggests to me that all game speech could be poetry, if only we look at it in a certain way. And that’s a beautiful thing.”

So there you go, Ronald – the code is on the way.  Perhaps you have a career in writing poetry about grizzled and cold hearted mercenaries… well, ok, not sure if that’ll pay the bills, but it’s worth a shot.

Below are the entries by the other finalists. Everyone did a great job, and be sure to stay tuned, we’re anouncing the next contest tomorrow.
