What’s Square Enix Bringing to E3?

Japanese publisher Square Enix has a lot to show at this year’s E3 expo.  Alongside givens like Final Fantasy XIII and Dissidia, they’re bringing the pain with a few new titles that you might not expect.Joining Square Enix’s lineup are two entirely new titles, Front Mission Evolved and Nier.  As most of you know, both of these titles have been teased by Square repeatedly over the past few months; Front Mission via a teaser website and Nier through repeated mentions in the Official Playstation and XBOX Magazines.  Along with these two announcements, Square Enix will also be showing off their partnerships with Western studios, Supreme Commander 2 and Order of War, as well as their previously announced WiiWare titles Final Fantasy IV: The After Years and My Life as a Dark Lord.  The full list of Square Enix’s E3 titles is as follows.

Consoles/PC
Final Fantasy XIII (PS3/360)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Wii)
Front Mission Evolved (PC/360/PS3)
Nier (PS3/360)
Supreme Commander 2 (360/PC)
Order of War (PC)

Handhelds
Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP)
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (DS)

Downloadable Games
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (WiiWare)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord (WiiWare)

A solid lineup, to be certain, though it does feel like something might be missing; the absence of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep could mean that a planned appearance by Tetsuya Nomura and his team may have been cancelled or delayed until the Tokyo Game Show this September.  Despite this sad absence, we’ll do our best to bring you updated impressions from the front lines of Square’s E3 booth and their upcoming titles.

Deciding not to appear due to ‘swine flu’ as opposed to showing off the latest clothing renders seemed to be a better, if less truthful, move for Square Enix to make this year.

Is it weird the Square Enix games I’m most excited about this E3 is probably the ones appearing on the Wii/WiiWare?

I’m also hyped for VersusFFXIII, but… that’s not on the list. =/
