E3 2009: MAG

We saw MAG teased at last year’s E3, but Sony have this time shown us some full 256 player gameplay. Sony showed us some live gameplay from MAG during their press conference.  When I say “live” I mean it – two hundred and fifty six players were connected to the game from throughout the United States and there did not seem to be any network problems.  The game for the moment is proving that it can handle that many players at once.

The gameplay looked to be a hybrid of Battlefield and Call of Duty 4, but it yet remains to see how the game can keep a match of that magnitude balanced and playing flawlessly.  Check the footage out for yourselves.
