New Ways To Play: GTA 4 Dead
It doesn’t take a lot to guess that this new style of play involves zombies. Yes, GTA can now be played with zombies. It was nothing new to say that Grand Theft Auto IV contained a zombie skin for players, but what use is a skin if it’s purely cosmetic. However, last night, a bunch of friends from Ready Up and I concocted a way to utilize these skins in what I believe is eligible for an all new game mode. The title needs a bit of work, as to not breach any copyrights, but the core ideas of a zombie horde remains. I feel that the best way to describe this mode is with a ruleset.
- Game mode: Team Deathmatch
- Players: 6-16 ideally
- Teams: 2
One containing survivors, one containing zombies. The number of survivors depends on the total number of players in the game. If there are sixteen players, there are four survivors and twelve zombies. If there are less players, the number of players on each team is reduced. Numbers ought to stay in proportion as to keep the feel of a zombie horde.
- Weapons: Powerful
Survivors are entitled to use any means necessary to survive, whereas zombies may only use fists and knives. This works, as once a survivor is surrounded by several zombies, the melee spam renders them unable to fight back.
- Voice chat: Proximity
Zombies must enhance the horde effect by making zombie moaning sounds. As players get close to a survivor, they will be alerted of the presence.
- Location: Happiness Island
Players must not leave the island, as it defeats the objective of the game.
- Duration: 10 minutes
- Objective: Survive, and score points
The survivors are to last the ten minutes killing as many zombies as they can. The amount of points they score overall is decided by the number of points the survivors score less the number of points the zombies score.
What started out as a surprise to a birthday boy that decided to go to the toilet, has ended up resulting in what I believe is a whole new way to play Grand Theft Auto IV multiplayer. Spread the word, GTA 4 Dead is here.

awesome way to play dude. I think we really came across something cool last night. Looking forward to the next one!
