Xbox LIVE Takes A Day Off, Gamers Get The Shakes

Somewhere in a baking hot server room, Xbox LIVE is living it up – making use of years of subscription fees and enjoying a well earned rest. The rest of us? We’re surviving, although some aren’t taking it too well..

Lets assume that there is a small section of the Xbox 360 ownership who really can’t stand leaving the controller turned off, set on the table and venture outdoors. Instead what do they do? They venture to the safety of the internet, and from there they let everyone – and I mean EVERYONE - know what it feels like to be dumped, if only for a day. In order to find out what’s been said on the gossip trails I put on my very best flame retardant tuxedo and threw myself into the flames so to speak. Here are some highlights I found from the jilted lovers of Xbox LIVE:

  • XXXXX is missing Xbox Live, I fear for her sanity. Anyway, what was I doing again?…Who are you anyway?

  • Isn’t funny how we all take it for granted. Nuts as well how much of the Xbox experience is online. Even when your not playing multi. :( I want my friends to know what game im playing…
  • I woke up 10 minutes ago, tried getting on live, nearly cried because I thought my net had gone again and then remembered it was live that was down :/
  • Right, so essentially, MS is dictating that I can not play my Xbox360 during a WHOLE day? What if I happened to have a party planned? What will happen to all achievements I rack up? Especially with games that have autosave? You know, practically, this won’t pose much of a problem, I mean there are a tonof things I could do instead of play on my Xbox, but goddamn, tomorrow Big Surf Island is coming out and I WANT TO PLAY THAT SHIT. Again, before anyone flames me for going “Durrrr, you dont need Live to play”: yes I do. I want my achievements to sync up, that doesnt happen without Live. This is really balls Microsoft.

Boo-hoo. As an owner of Xbox 360 I can honestly say that there is a whole world out there for us to enjoy. The last guy there really went to town, and you know something – his is one of the more reasonable responses to this out(r)age. Listen to this statement from someone called Kakrida888 on Deviantart. They receive two completely different responses from the board administrators and fellow deviants, as you would expect really.

  • Fuck… Xbox live is down, I can’t handle it… I feel like wanting to suicide right now… WTF microsoft… A whole day without it???? I wanna pwn noobs soo badly. My friend I think he’s going crazy, me too.. T.T I want my xbox live dammit dammit all. I don’t feel like eating, and my Mom wants me to go to the doctor, but i feel fine, its just that my life isn’t that comfortable without my xbox live for one whole day… I’m starting to get pissed. And lonely too. I feel like its the end of the world!!!!!

which was met with the following response from a fellow Deviant:

  • Yeah, suicide sounds like your best option.

Not taking sides, or obviously a PlayStation 3 user, a member of the administration team decided to take the high road and told Kakrida888 the following:

  • This belongs in the Complaints forum or your Journal. If you have a specific problem that needs to be resolved, try the Hardware or Software forum – whichever applies.

Burn…Anyway that’s all I could bother to look at before exploding in a fiery rage and wanting to throw my Xbox 360 out of a window in shame. Then I remembered how difficult it actually is to cancel a LIVE subscription and better sense prevailed. Remember everyone, just like our man Jesus Christ James Bond, Xbox LIVE will return. So, tell me, what did you do with your day off folks?

I’d be sad… if I played games online more than once in a blue moon.
If interacting with my fellow human beings was a strong suit of mine, I probably wouldn’t be such a hardcore gamer.
Besides, Ghostbusters is out today. And bustin’ makes me feel good.
