ESRB Watch: Wild ARMs 2 Headed to PSN
While it’s unlikely any of our readers are going to be in the mood to toss more money down on any PS1 Classics so soon after Metal Gear Solid hit last night, Sony’s ESRB leaks aren’t stopping. Next up on the list? Wild ARMs 2. Originally released for the PS1 in Japan in 1999 and in the United States in 2000, Wild ARMs 2 (or 2nd Ignition in Japan) is, obviously, the second iteration of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and MEDIA.VISION’s Wild West RPG franchise. The game follows a young soldier by the name of Ashley Winchester who, following a failed demon summoning experiment, finds himself the lone survivor of his unit. Set in the desolate wilderness of Filgaia, Ashley and his companions join up with an elite military unit known as ARMS, and set out to find and defeat those responsible for the loss of his companions.
Featuring one of the largest playable casts in the entire Wild ARMs series, this game also contains several features unique to the franchise, such as the Tools system, allowing each character unique items that can be used outside of battle to solve puzzles, as well as character-specific Force abilities, a wide variety of summon spells, and a fully animated intro video. It’s also the only game in the entire franchise that I don’t own, so as long as it’s priced well (the original Wild ARMs is available for $5 on the PSN as we speak), I’ll be picking this one up day one. While the Wild ARMs series has yet to make an HD debut on the PS3, it looks like gamers won’t have to wait too much longer for their Wild West RPG fix.

Hope ya do pick it up man. Pretty good entry in the series. Though for some reason I feel the battle graphics in the original aged better than they did here. Still enjoyable though. May pick it up myself just to have it easily accessible.
I am loving that we’re finally getting some PS1 era games on the PSN store that aren’t utter crap. Suikoden, FFVII, now this. Good times.
I just wish it didn’t take so long to get rolling.
