Atlus Summons Up Five New Devil Survivor Trailers
Just in time for the game’s launch this week, Atlus released these five trailers for their new DS SRPG/RPG genre-blending release, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. Prepare to be overwhelmed by flash video players.
Core gameplay looks really interesting. By blending Strategy RPG meta-battles and traditional RPG turn based fights Atlus looks like they’re creating an interesting twist on two traditional gameplay models I love.
At least a few of the key plot elements are hinted at here: The evacuation of the city, monsters out in public, the secretive nature of the cast of heroes, and most importantly the “death clock” that is slowly ticking down for every character in the game.
Surprise, I’m absolutely in love with the music in an Atlus game. While the setting is reminiscent of Square-Enix’s The World Ends with You, traditional Atlus JRPG music isn’t all that I expect to seprate the two titles.
An auction system with a countdown timer and last second bid drama? Oh Atlus, you shouldn’t have. The ability to pick up demons in a way other than negotiation and fusion is a nice addition. I’m curious about what else I can buy (or sell?) at the auction: items? Weapons?
And finally, one of hte defining features of the series, fusion. Pretty straight forward stuff here for the Atlus Faithful, but the various ways you can limit and filter through potential fusions.

yo Austin, have you played this? itf so what are your thoughts…looked pretty cool but it got meh reviews.
Hey Kevin,
