As I say in my opening spiel:
The basic format is simple. One story run on One Last Continue serves as a keystone in a podcast structured around video games. This can be a review, an editorial, a preview, a news story, whatever. From that starting point we’ll crawl outwards, hitting other topics that we’ve covered on the site, and some unique content just for the podcast, but we’ll always keep that central idea in mind. Today’s topic: Why do we write about video games?
There are some technical issues, and the sound quality will improve as we get better mics in the next few weeks, but we appreciate your support and patience. Hopefully the content speaks for itself.
Some show notes:
Matt Bloise has recently joined our staff as a contributor. If you haven’t read his Suikoden: Tierkreis review, be sure to check it out. You can also check out his Final Fantasy XI blog The Grumpy Paladin and his two Let’s Play threads on Gamespite’s Talking Time forums: Shining Force II and Final Fantasy.
Ronald Diemicke is the Editor-in-Chief of Gametopius, and also covers video games for the Gettysburg Times.
The intro and exit tunes are from “Burning Gasoline And The Midnight Oil,” the final song on Abode of Kings In A Derelict Kingdom, the debut album by friends of OLC, the Gunsling Birds. According to their site: Gunsling Birds is the name of a band formed by the musician Scott Hallam, who constitutes its core as songwriter and singer. It is a name designated by him to describe the ever-revolving constellation of his very, very talented friends with whom he performs and records. Gunsling Birds currently presides and operates in the thriving Brooklyn music community. Check out the site, where you can stream and buy the full album.
The independent game designer whose name I couldn’t remember Jason Rohrer. Check out his games, they’re all outstanding.
The Sacred 2 review by the exceptional Tom Chick is available here, and is a quick and effective read. Also check out one of my favorite recurring magazine features, available online in full, Tom vs. Bruce. Also, check out his “Ten Stupid Things…” and “Ten Cool Things…” articles about inFAMOUS.
