Ubisoft Dev Diary: Redefining Splinter Cell
Prepare, execute, vanish. That’s the name of the game in Splinter Cell: Conviction this time around when you step once again into the boots of Sam Fisher. That, and a whole load of other amazing new features.
I’m particularly impressed with the level of interactivity that the developer seems to be going for this time around. Watch with interest when they demonstrate marking your targets on the lighting, as well as your enemies, in order to confuse your opponents. Pretty funky stuff if you ask me, and it may very well be a good reason why the title won a slew of awards at this past E3. Anyway, check out the first in a series of development diaries from Ubisoft right here!

What I’ve seen so far really has me interested. The last game in the series did nothing for me, and I had kinda written Splinter Cell off. But it appears Ubisoft is putting alot of time and effort into revamping the series into something fun.
The only thing I’m worried about is the lack of “don’t leave a trace” gameplay in this video. In, say, Chaos Theory, if you left evidence of your presence, the guards would get more and more suspicious until finally they’d pull the alarm. Leaving a giant broken chandelier in your wake seems like it’d cause just a tad bit of suspicion, is all.
The marking-your-targets feature looks awesome. I hope you get a dart gun or some other non-lethal projectile, though.
