New Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Footage Features Co-Op

When it was announced several months ago, Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 was said to include a mode never before seen in the franchise; co-op.  That feature has finally made an appearance in video form, so click on to give it a watch.  As has been mentioned before, the co-op mode in Sigma 2 is not full campaign co-op; instead, it takes place in more localized missions allowing both players to use any combination of weapons and characters.  Also new to the mode is an Ultimate Ninpo move that must be initiated by both players at the same time but kills everyone on the screen, as well as the ability to revive fallen teammates.

Playing through the hidden co-op mode in Devil May Cry 3 with a friend was one of my most enjoyable gaming moments; so a mode like this is essentially an instant buy coupon for me.  Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is going to be available this fall on the Playstation 3.

This sounds really and looks awesome! What really depresses me though is NG was originally an Xbox title. But PS3 Get both Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma and Xbox get nowt except for the bog stanard games with no extras.

    How is that fair?

I ended up buying NG Sigma for the PS3 even though I already owned the original xbox version of NG. The main reason was the lack of PS3 titles getting released at that time more than anything else, (the added Rachel playability, etc…was nice but not that a big a deal), and the less than stellar port was a disapointment for me. So when I heard that NG2 was getting released on the PS3, I decided that I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice (having gotten NG2 when it was released for the 360).

But hearing that co-op is going to be included makes me think about actually picking this up despite my earlier proclamation. While I did have alot of fun playing NG2, and I often replay it, it was a title that surprised me in that it was hardly much of an improvement over the last title. The hype surrounding Team Ninja releasing a “next-gen” Ninja Gaiden game eventually became just that….hype.
