HTML 5: Now With More Wolfenstein
Games in a browser? No sweat. Flash and Java make it a breeze. But without an external plugin? Cue in Wolfenstein for HTML 5.
This one is clearly more for the nerdier crowd out there. With the rise of in-browser games like Quake-Live, Battlefield Heroes and the upcoming EA Tiger Woods series receiving a browser only makeover. Long install times and high system requirements might on the decline, but most of these titles require some basic level of installation.
But not this one. While what we have here is just a tech demo, a developer has successfully emulated a basic version of Wolfenstein 3D. There are no weapons, no working doors, and nothing to do. It’s a tiny little time waster just to see how far modern day browsing code logic has come. If you’re really geeking out over this, check out the author’s home page for the full code and a write-up of how he did it.
